Submit your truth

SBCN IRS Ground Search Project is sworn and committed to confidentiality of any information we receive from survivors, descendants of survivors, archives and anyone with history/stories related to our site. There are multiple ways to submit your truths to our team. Please select from the following below: 

NOTE: We wish to ensure your safety, mental and spiritual health during this process. We recommend to have supports either with you or on standby when you write and provide your story. Connect with our staff to set up these services with no cost involved.

Hope for Wellness

The toll-free Hope for Wellness Help Line offers 24/7 support to all Indigenous people. Trained counsellors are available by phone at 1-855-242-3310 or online chat at hopeforwellness.ca. This service is available in English and French, and upon request in Cree, Ojibway, and Inuktitut.

Tell your Truths in Person

Verbal and Written Submission

Our Researchers and/or Coordinators can meet with yourself and your support person on-site, on Zoom, in a public location of your choice or in your home. Alternately, you may submit your truth by telephone, email, by text or by letter in the mail. 

Record your Truths for preservation

Video and/or audio Submission

You may also have your truths recorded by our Researchers or Coordinators and have full autonomy on how your truths are stored. Any of the information you provide can either be submitted to the project for the duration of the project, submitted to the SBCN IRS Ground Search Project Archives, Stored within our planned Historical Museum or deleted as you desire. You will have the option to receive a copy of your story to take home with you. 

Note: This service could be provided on-site, on Zoom, in a public location of your choice or in your home. Alternately, you may submit your truth by video or recorded audio to our email, hand-delivered in person or delivered to us in the mail. 

Provide your Truths through Media

Art/music/spoken-word/poetry/traditional song/traditional art/theatre/storytelling

Another option that survivors, decedents of survivors or the general public can pick would be through visual/audio/video/physical arts. The SBCN IRS Ground Search Project will provide a safe space to create and story tell on-site in the form of Painting, Drawings, Sculpting, Poetry Writing, Story Writing, Story Telling, Spoken-Word, Theatre, Traditional Art, Traditional Story Telling, Traditional Drumming, Traditional Signing, Beading, Crafting, Applicae, Sculpting, video creation and music creation. 

These types of submissions can also be done at home or in a space that you are comfortable with and submitted to our project at a later date.
